Wave is a platform where artists/musicians can perform virtual concerts, attended by fans worldwide. These virtual events are called “Waves” and are networked virtual worlds where participants can connect to a show while wearing a VR headset, or from a web browser or mobile app, depending on the show.

I worked at Wave from 2020 – 2023 and during my time there, I worked in Unity and Unreal Engine to build the SDKs used by show creators to curate their concert experiences. I worked on implementing networked gameplay features, creating user interactions, building tools for technical artists, solving performance issues, fixing platform specific bugs, etc.

Our shows featured live multiplayer servers and clients connecting using mobile VR headsets such as the Meta Quest (or other platforms). We essentially built a networked game in which clients, or “attendees” can watch a show together in real time, and interact with each other using VR controllers, microphones, etc.

When I worked at Wave, I had the pleasure of working with artists including The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Calvin Harris, Alison Wonderland and many more. Each show was a fully shipped product and developed by a team of software engineers, artists, broadcast engineers, QA, etc.

I was a Technical Lead for “Pico & Wave Preset: The Calvin Harris Experience”, a VR virtual concert developed in Unreal Engine.

I was also a Technical Lead on “Wave Presents: Justin Bieber”, a virtual concert developed in Unity.
